This page is our most frequently asked questions about cats. If your question is not here, please email or call us and we will get back with you as soon as possible!
Make sure we have a large place to park preferrably in the front of your house on the street.
Please allow a 3 hour window for pet grooming including 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. We may be running late or early. This is hard to predict because of working with live animals, traffic conditions, and whether or not the other customers have their pets ready upon arrival.
Know what kind of haircut you want. Some people want a lion cut. Specialty cuts can be done on easy going cats. Please be realistic. If your pet is matted look for short haircuts.
We will not go under beds or look for your cat for you. It is your responsiblility to have the cat ready for the groom and hand it to us. Please have your cat in a carrier before we arrive or at least in a bathroom or other small room for easy access. It is best to have a carrier so we don't lose your pet outside. We will not carry the cat for you free style because of risk of it spooking and getting away. If your cat does not like being in a carrier then you are welcome to bring the cat out to the van and hand the cat off. We will then call you to come out to get your cat after we are finished with the groom. We have an extra carrier if needed. Carriers in general work best.
Please don't wait until the last minute to secure your pet. We will only wait 15 minutes after arrival before we will reschedule and charge half of the cost of the groom for coming out. We have other appointments to go to so please respect this policy.
You are welcome to text us for an ETA in order to have your cat ready.
Make sure you notify us of any health issues or behavior issues before the groom.
Do not feed your pet right before the appointment to ensure they won't throw up or have to go potty.
Do not stress out your pet before the groom!
We ask all customers to book their own appointments on the website booking tab. We will not take responsibility for anyone who does not book their own appointment. Please do not blame us if you don’t have an appointment. It is up to you or someone in your family to help you book online. If you can’t book the appointment yourself for physical reasons or other reasons and no one in your family can help you, please call the business phone number between 7pm-9pm to book your appointment. We will not automatically book it for you because we would have to spend all of our time just booking appointments instead of grooming! However, the booking app will ask you if you want to book an appointment before 8 weeks are up. There is no guarantee if you wait that long you will get the time and day you prefer. There also may be a wait to be booked. We highly encourage you to pre-book your appointments in advance to ensure you have the preferred time and day you want. The booking app will allow you to book 180 days (approx 6 months) in advance. Many customers choose to book their appointments the same day their pet gets groomed.
***Fair warning: Book again the day of your grooming appointment or at least a month before you want your pet groomed. It is always wise to book in advance to ensure your day and time is set.
We groom dogs and cats with a maximum weight of 30 pounds. We will trim nails on guinea pigs and pet rabbits in the entrance inside your home. (Same prices and policies apply) No wild cats or hybrids or feral cats will be groomed. All pets must be tame. Your pet must be 3 months old with their second set of shots before getting groomed. Elderly pets of any age can be groomed unless their health is at risk where a vet needs to be available in case of seizures, heart attack or other serious health conditions arise. We may recommend a vet groomer if we feel very uncomfortable with the health or behavior of the pet. If a vet groomer is not an option because they refuse to sedate for elderly reasons, we will attempt to groom your pet with prior arrangements made and a signed waiver of release of all liability to groom the elderly/medically challenged pet. Special handling fees may apply.
We will not sedate pets nor will we do pets that have been sedated. We can not monitor your pets while they are sedated so it is best to have the sedated pet groomed at a vet where they can be professionally monitored.
The average time for haircuts on dogs and cats is 1 hour to 1 ½ hours. The average bath time for cats or dogs can be 30 minutes to an hour. This will vary depending on temperament, difficulty of the cut and thickness/matting of the pet's coat.
Dogs can be bathed as often as once a week depending on the dog. We recommend every 2-6 weeks. However, it is recommended NOT to bathe cats more than once a month because their skin can get dry. We recommend every 4-6 weeks. Some cats can’t/won’t tolerate the bathing process without getting totally stressed out. We have options for this problem and you can inquire before the appointment. Check our “shave down no bath” under the Cat Services tab.
In our experience, cats have not responded well if they never had a bath before. Therefore, we do not bathe cats that have not had a bath within the last year. In our experience, this is simply too stressful for the cat. Additionally, we do not groom cats that haven’t been professionally groomed in over a year. If you believe you may have an exception to this rule, you may inquire by calling or texting the business phone at 469-504-4210.
No, we do not come out for extra services by themselves. At least one pet in the home must be getting a bath or groom package for us to make a house call.
The same rules apply to cats and dogs. Please see the tab General FAQ for more info on double coats. FYI: My persian cat has been getting lion cuts and Panther cuts for 10+ years and her hair still grows back thick and long but I can see a difference in the thickness and softness of the coat.
We are sorry but we must be able to groom your pet without your help. If your pet will require two people for grooming, please discuss this in advance. We do not allow customers or children in the van for liability reasons.
We do have a small blow dryer. If your pet still can't do a small blow dryer, then we will towel dry it as best possible but please let us know in advance as we will not be able to cut wet hair. There are other options available if you are aware your pet doesn't like something just let us know before the groom and we will discuss the options.
Yes! This is not a self-serve or to go order service. Pet grooming is a direct service to you as a customer for your pet. Tips are customary in pet grooming just like hair salons and barber shops. Average tips is 10-20%. Tips are greatly appreciated!
This will depend on your pet. If it can tolerate the dematting and how long it will take. We will not sacrifice the comfort and safety of your pet for the physical appearance of your pet. We will not demat a pet that will take longer than 15 minutes to demat and the price is $1 per minute. Many times there will be balder spots where the hair has already pulled away from the skin as well as red lesions that may look like scrapes or sores. Please keep this in mind when contemplating your decisions. Also, cats tend to not have as much tolerance as dogs.
We can’t answer that because it depends on medical conditions that may or may not be known, age of the pet, and whether your pet has post-clipping alopecia. If your pet has none of these conditions, the average for most dogs hair growth is ½ an inch per month. A cat's average hair growth from being shaved for long hair is at least 6 months fully grown in, short haired cats average is 5 months to be fully grown in. However, the hair may not have the same color or texture, may be thinner and some grow faster or slower than others just like humans.
Only when necessary. If your pet bites for only the nails, let us know and we will muzzle for the nails only. If your pet may bite or you are not sure, we will use a muzzle or an e-collar or a combination of both. Please be forthcoming on your pets' dislikes. Cats are more unpredictable. They may be fine one time and then not fine for the next time. For cats, we may use a cat muzzle for grooming if it will take one without fighting. If your cat will not allow a muzzle or an e-collar and may bite, we will have to decline the services. Because of the bacteria, a cat bite will most likely cause a trip to the ER and at least a month out of work! Yes, this has happened to us before. We may also use vet wrap for the nails and gloves for our hands. Getting your cat groomed with our company it is implied that we may use whatever restraint we feel is necessary to be safe.
Most cats have double coats (Persians, Himilayans, Manx, Scottish folds and many more). Some have triple coats (maine coons, Siberian, etc.) and less have single coats (Rex, Ragdolls, Turkish Angoras, etc).
